New luxury: the curated wardrobe

Fashionising is more then the name of this publication. It is both at once a verb and an attitude.

In this first of our published manifestos, we pen our thoughts on one of the ultimate luxuries open to the modern fashioniser. In an era where most people have wardrobes that simply contain too much average and not enough of the exceptional, we see the curated wardrobe as the ultimate luxury.

Read the full manifesto to find out why we see the curated as a new luxury, why that is, and what it means.

How the Royal wedding dress will influence trends

It's more Princess Grace than Diana, Princess of Wales (for which a billion people breathe a collective sigh of relief) - and the wedding dress worn by Kate Middleton will, beyond a shadow of a doubt, be all kinds of influential. Designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen the dress manages to strike that fine and perfect balance between intricate detail and understated refinement, being neither too plain nor too plush. The full sleeves have a certain austerity that the times call for - yet are perfectly feminine in their delicate lace needlework; even the accompanying jewellery maintains a carefully-selected level of ostentatiousness.

So what elements can we expect to see rippled through time and fashion post-Royal Wedding? As well as the wedding dress market being awash with copies, the shape of the train will inspire wedding dress designs, likely for some years to come. Structured and with petal-like pleats that suggest an opening flower, the train differs somewhat to the less structured trains that have dominated recent memory.

The continuation and evolution of lace as a fashion trend will also be ushered along by Kate's impeccably hand-engineered lace bodice and skirt.

Alexander the Great: a tribute to McQueen

A tribute to Alexander McQueen's artistic output presented in Vogue US is an awe-inspiring retrospective of the stellar career, and a thorough preview of the upcoming Savage Beauty exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute on May 4th. Alexander the Great is a beautiful story of the fashion pioneer and Enfant Terrible in one. Following the meaning of this figurative title, Alexander undeniably conquered the fashion world with his innovative vision and tremendous artistry that weren't always acceptable for the audience but surely recognized as McQueen's signature. The powerful impact leaves a priceless and timeless reminiscence.

Daria deja vu

It could just be me, but it seems like Daria Werbowy has modelling down to a lifestyle art. In a moment of deja vu I almost thought these shots were from the same shoot as the last time we saw Daria, on the beaches of Saint-Barth. But no - these, taken by Derek Kettela, were snapped on the pristine seascapes of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. More sun, more sand, more macrame and bare skin and shoeless feet and beauty. And more inspiration for your own beachwear choices.

Two-faced Parisian glamour

Paris by night with all the glamour spirit is the location of the Pleine Lune editorial for Vogue Paris' May issue. Model Anja Rubik captured in the lens of Mikael Jansson takes a lonely walk through the dark Parisian streets.

Presented in two juxtaposed openings the editorial splits into two different stories: black and white street style images contrast with paparazzi shots coloured with the blurred city lights and bold coloured flamboyant evening dresses straight from high fashion houses like Gucci, Lanvin or Louis Vuitton.
