Win: a year's supply of Simone Perele lingerie

There's nothing more satisfying than pulling on a perfectly matched, perfectly fitted, luxurious yet comfortable set of lingerie. And for that, it's hard to go past Simone Perele. Since 1946 the family-run brand has been combining fit, function and fashion into some of the most revolutionary and forward-thinking products on the market.

One of those revolutions is the new Simone Perele Caressence range; made from French lace that's knitted with Aloe Vera encapsulated thread, it's the softest lingerie for even the most sensitive skin.

To celebrate the release of the range, Simone Perele are giving one fashioniser the chance to restock their lingerie drawer with a 12 months supply of beautiful lingerie, as well as a professional fitting to ensure only the most perfect prize. Read on for how to enter.

Future trend: Experimenting with trousers

If we had to make a definite statement about women's fashion in the last decade we'd say that skinny jeans and pants influenced the its silhouettes more then any other look. Women wanted skinnies, and most everything else was cut to work with them. Styles get tired however and while we might still all love our skinnies, there's an undercurrent of experimentation amongst the fashion forward collective, each of them looking for something else, each of them looking for what's next.

Hence, when it comes to this decade's emerging fashion trends so many of them are experimenting with the 'standard' silhouette of pants. As a result we have emerging, neo-trends in the return of bell bottoms and wide legged pants. There's one more style we're certain will join that list, however, making it something of a trend trinity: pleats.

Why the milkmaid braid won't go away

What is it about the milkmaid braid that gives it such staying power? Amoungst our list of hair trends since back in 2008, it caries over from year to year and never quite goes away. There is a reason for this, of course: the milkmaid braid hairstyle is neither easy to create nor easy to pull off. That is, it's never going to be as quick and simple to achieve as, say, last year's ubiquitous topknot. And thus it will never be as overused as the topknot. Being that kind of micro-trend that never reaches mass saturation means it's a style that simply continues to linger... And we've no complaint about that.

Bond girl for the modern day

Take note, costume designers of the James Bond franchise; for here's an interpretation of modern-day Bond girl that would not be so quickly forgotten. But it's not a reinterpretation of the floor-length slinky gowns and classic day-wear. This shoot by Pierre Dal Corso takes some 70s influences - fitting for the super-cool retro design of The Seven Hotel's James Bond-inspired suite - but also mixes in modern sportswear and couture for a more cutting edge interpretation.

The Shoes Appreciation Society

In the market for a print for your house or apartment? Then this print we came across might be right for you. Decidedly minimalist, but not without classic lines, it takes in all the shoes we covet (Alexander McQueen's lobster claw) along with all the styles that aren't currently but are likely to soon find their way back into fashion.

J.Crew's take on the coming winter

It's almost perverse, isn't it? Spring 2011 has barely sprung, and yet the fashion world is already busying itself with the challenge of fall / winter 2011. So it is that American retailer J.Crew has revealed it's take on the season.

J.Crew have become something of a divisive force in menswear of late. It seems that amongst those whose taste the retailer and label is meant to appeal to, there are two firm camps: those who love them and those who hate them. Polar extremes are nothing new in fashion, but J.Crew seem to attract a love / hate relationship for the simple reason that they stock high-quality labels alongside their own range; and the quality of their own pieces doesn't always match up to what else they stock. That's not to say that their offering is necessarily bad, but it's very hard for a store to stock their own mid-range product alongside the likes of Belstaff and come off looking like they're on the same level.

This comparison has never phased me however, and I have to confess that no trip to the United States is complete for me without a visit to at least one J.Crew store. Moreover, should they ever discover the fact that they could offer international shipping as a part of their e-commerce store, they'd probably have been the beneficiary of much more of my money.

So it is that I took to their next-season offering with much interest. Pictures seldom communicate quality, but they certainly do wonders for communicating aesthetic and direction.

Ona Union Street camera messenger bag: review

I spent the first three months of the year travelling between countries for their various men's and women's autumn / fall 2011 fashion weeks, but I spent the two months prior to that searching for the perfect luggage to accompany me on the trip. As I'm sure every fashioniser can understand, I was after something very particular when it came to finding the perfect man bag to accompany me from event to event. Of all the qualities I needed it to have, functionality was at the very top. I needed a man bag that could hold all the accessories required of a full calendar of fashion events: the Canon DSLR I often carry along with the iPad or Macbook upon which much of Fashionising.com is written. Second to that, I needed something that could offer up form along with function - it had to look good and, as the only man bag I'd have for the entire trip, it had to visually work with all the outfits I was likely to wear. All those needs formulated into my imagined perfect bag: thus I found myself looking for a man bag of neutral colour (I was looking for a dark grey), cut like a messenger, and heavily compartmentalised to accomodate a camera, its lenses, and the day's necessary writing device.

Sadly, despite two months of hunting, I never found it.

Three months later, I've flown from Paris to Melbourne to attend LMFF, and to my surprise it was more than warm weather that awaited me. There, along with umpteenth other parcels, was the bag I'd been looking for, the bag I'd imagined. Grey, compartmentalized, wholly functional and wholly stylish. It was the Ona Union Street messenger bag, and I was left wondering where it had been for the past three months of my life.
